Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez bruited about as Bernie Sanders's Veep?

With the matter slowly dawning on Democrats that Bernie Sanders might just be their next presidential nominee, it hasn't taken long for fantasy prognosticators to bruit about far-left Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the Sanders running mate.

It's absurd, of course, not just because Ocasio-Cortez has yet to complete one year in Congress, but because the 30-year-old congresswoman from New York City is actually too young to run.

But here's the socialist's response to the matter:

"Well, I can't [be vice president], because I'm not old enough", she said about the idea of joining Mr Sanders on a potential Democratic ticket against Mr Trump.

"I'm only 30, someone has to be 35", she added, "but it'd be an honour" to be vice president.

Some leftist lunatic, though, is throwing this idea around, and for some leftist purpose, probably.

From our perspective, it likely has to do with the fact that Sanders won the coveted Ocasio-Cortez endorsement shortly after Bernie's heart attack, quite possibly saving his campaign from oblivion.  At a minimum, Sanders owes her big time for her endorsement, which has since led to Democratic speculation that Sanders might just win Iowa and become the Democratic nominee, given the number of problems seen in all the other Democratic candidates.  Stand up and take a bow, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Bernie, meanwhile, says he knows that Ocasio-Cortez is too young to be vice president, but he has added that he wants her in his administration.  That old political payback is still in motion, in other words.  And don't think she won't collect.  This report from BuzzFeed says the House progressive caucus is seeking to expand its power because that's what they want.

For voters, that ought to be an attention-grabber.  Imagine Ocasio-Cortez, who can't even keep proper campaign finance books, running some department like the Treasury.  Or, given her corruption record, the Department of Justice.  It's bad.  It's also a warning that behind Bernie's lovably gruff exterior, there exists a red-blooded socialist who'd have the government run by idiots, idiots such as Ocasio-Cortez, same as Lenin and Hugo Chávez put know-nothing idiots in positions of high power before him, there for their political loyalty, not their expertise.

It's a hideous thought.  And it ought to drive even Democrats to think twice about voting for Bernie, given the kind of people he'd bring in to run his government.

So as Bernie comes off as a lovably grumpy old leftist grandpa, here are the kinds of people a Bernie Sanders presidency would be certain to bring in.
