Report: Government unprepared for pandemic

The Centers for Disease Control wants everyone to know that the Ebola virus will not spread "widely" in the US and that they have a good handle on the situation.    "The bottom line here is that I have no doubt that we will control this importation, or this case of Ebola, so that it does not spread widely in this country," Frieden said. "It is certainly possible that someone who had contact with this individual could develop Ebola in the coming weeks. But there is no doubt in my mind that we will stop it here."   How can he possibly say that when the patient was symptomatic for 4 days and we have yet to get an accounting of who he came into contact during that time. He could have infected someone who then jetted off to California or New York or anyplace else in America - or several places.   This myopia highlights the fact that the Inspector Genearl of Homeland Security thinks his department is woefully unprepared...(Read Full Post)
