Court of Appeals denied Libby's Bond Appeal

The U.S. Court of appeals for the District of Columbia today rejected Libby's appeal for release pending appeal. Libby ``has not shown that the appeal raises a substantial question'' under federal law that would merit letting him remain free, the court said.I am more disappointed in this ruling than I can say, for I believe an innocent man is heading off to prison.I urge the President to pardon him; respite his sentence so he can remain free pending the appeal; or commute it and remove the prison sentence so he can remain free and appeal his conviction.At this stage of hie presidency, it is hard to fill vacancies; the present staff is overworked and beset by stupid Congressional hearings; it would certainly dispirit them more to see how callously one of their own is being treated--as a result of the cowardice of those who turned this over to Fitzgerald in the first place knowing there had never been an underlying crime.(Read Full Post)
